In 1952, Bob Hirohata purchased a slightly used 1951 Mercury and drove it over to the Barris Kustoms shop for some custom work. Three months later, every square inch of the Mercury’s outer skin had been reworked in some way, and the result was arguably the most famous and most copied custom car ever: The Hirohata Merc.
